GENERAL HISTORY! Paris, France. Two teenagers are signed up for a co-ed private school. All for years, they have nearly all the same classes. Middle of their second year in High School, they start going out. Everyone things they're perfect for eachother, and they can't help but agree. They dated all thought the rest of their High School years. And, one passionate night before Senior year graduation, led to a wonderful life.
7 months after they graduated, Tessly Joelle Lioless was brought into the world. She was... the perfect child, if there every could be one. She never cried, she was nearly always smiling, she went to bed on time and she aways sat in time-out until it was over. When she started school, her teacher had nothing but good things to say about her. She read when told, she wrote perfectly, and she never screamed at the other children like some did. Things were wonderfull for eleven years. Then, everything changed.
One day, Tessly's father was just at a doctor check-up when the dorctor reccomeneded he go to the hospital and get some things checked out. When Tessly and her mother went to pick him up, the doctors said he had cancer. The Lioless girls were in shock. Elisa had no idea how this could happen, but the doctors told her that it was a mutation of a few cells in his brain. He was given a year to live, but didn't see it out.
When Tessly turned twelve, her father died. It was a really tough year for Tessly, but not so much for her mother. She continued on with her work, and actually met someone. His name: Ty. An American, devorced guy with 8 kids. Tessly never really knew what attracted her mother to him, but she married him when Tessly was 12 and a half.
Elisa was head-over-heals for Ty. When it came time for him to return to the United States, Tessly was dragged there by her mother. She had been taking English for around a year and a half, but no way near knew enough to live there. And, she wasn't prepaired for what awaited her at her new house.
8 siblings. 4 sisters all older then her and 4 brothers all yonger then her. She was stuck in the middle. And, for the first time in her life, she wasn't her mothers whole world. Now she had to share everything with 8 other people. Suddenly, Tessly found herself in a compleatly different world with people she didnt know and only half understood. Soon enough, though, she found herself cursing them in French. She didn't get along at all with her new step-siblings and often got into full French argument with her mother. No longer was she the perfect child her mother once knew.
Fast-foward a year. Tessly turned 13 and didn't really get any more speical attention then she did when she was 12. She got a few gifts, a cake, and got to go to the mall with just her mother. All in all, it was a good two hours. Then, it was back to the normal day. And that's where it started to do down hill. At that moment, she realized that things weren't going to get better; they were going to get worse. Her mother had announced that she was pregnant and there would be yet another person in the house. And, Tessly couldn't stand that. She fell into a depression that nobody noticed.
After living in the over crowed house for a year, Tessly noticed that nobody went into the attic. After she realized that life wasn't going to get better, she turned to the attic for solitude. One day, after a picticularly bad fight with her mother, she broke the mirror that was upthere and found something out; glass cuts and hurts hard. From that moment on, she always carried a little shard around with her.
It just one day to much. Usually, she could go most of the day without any of her friend detecting any of her hidden depression. And ever since her mother maried Ty, she haddn't ever gotten along with him. She argued with him almost as frequently as she did with her mother. Except, most of the time she yelled French at him and he had no idea what she was saying. And, always, she was just that "french step sister" to all her siblings. They didn't really care for her at all, and just ignored her at school.
And one day, she just couldn't handle it any more. Her "family" was on on one of those 'Redls days out', wich excluded Tessly (despite what her school records said). It was that day that she decided it; her mother no longer cared. With bearly any friends at school, Tessly knew what she had to do. When the Redls returned home, they found tessly in the yard, with her arm broken in three parts, and many slices on her arms and legs. They didn't know what to do, but found out about a school in Canada that offered many opertunities for Tessly to bring out her passion for photography. The next thing she knew, Tessly was being dropped off at a school she didn't know, with people she never saw before, and in a country she knew nothing about.

Try not to think of your life as a hole
Inside of you is and always will be a soul
"The way he's improving, I'm sure you'll be able to take him home at the end of the week." The doctor smiled at Tessly and her mom. Leola let out a happy sigh, smiled, and hugged the doctor. "Thank you. Thank you so much" she said to him. "Haha, no problem. We're just as happy about his improvement as you are. We hope we wont have to see him again any time soon." He smiled down at the young Tessly, patting her head. "Happy birthday, Tessly." Tessly smiled up at him, her grin showing uneven teeth and a small hole in her front one. "You can go in and see him now." Tessly let go of her moms hand and rushed into her father's room. He was standing by the window, admiring the view. She ran to her dad and tugged on his hand. He turned to her, smiling, and knelt down so he could give her a proper, tight hug. "I love you, daddy" she whispered in his ear. "I'll always love you, Tess. No matter what happens"
That was one of the clearest memories Tessly had. Even though she was only 9 at the time, the image was painted into her mind forever. That day was, by far, the happiest she had ever experienced. Nothing even came close to outshining when her father was allowed to come home on her birthday. That was the perfect birthday gift, and nothing after that measured up to it. Tessly remembered that she and her mom were so extremely happy that we were crying. After the experience turned from a present thing to a past memory, she moved it into her 'happy memories' box. When ever she's sad, or longing to see her dad's face just once more, she pulls this memory out. But, sometimes, it sneaks out on its own. Sometimes, her brain just works in those weird ways. It anticipates her feeling depressed or sad or gloomy and it just opens that box and whips out the happiest thing that ever happened to her.
Tessly blinked and was brought out of the past and out of her memories and into the present. She blinked again, and looked down at her fingers. It was a disgusting habit, but she couldn't escape it's addictive grip. Yes, Tessly bit her fingernails 24/7. When she was tired, thinking, annoyed, bored. All of the above plus more. She was never able to escape it and she payed. Nearly 80% of the time, the skin around her nails was bleeding due to her biting to much off. Yeah, it hurt a bit. But, Tessly always had a strong tolerance to pain. She never complained, even if it hurt like hell. Even that time when she fell out of a tree and nearly broke her arm, she didn't complain about the pain. Sure, she aways joked around when her friends like poked her or like hit her in a jokingly way. But, when they said "Ohh! I'm sorry! Did that really hurt?", she would say "Haha! Not really" then they would laugh it over.
Tessly looked up at the stained glass windows. They were... beautiful. They resembled the ones that she had known so very well and that gave her a sense of comfort. Finding the small things about this new town that reminded her of the old one is what kept her going. Wither it was the glass windows or the forests surrounding her house. They all made her feel a bit more comfortable and she liked that. Her mother could see the difference, too. When they first moved to Ithian Ridge, Leola could tell her daughter felt lost in this new world. But, recently, she could sence the 15 year old was starting to feel as at home as possible for her.
Tessly had slightly forgotten that Nala was there. She sometimes became rapped up in her thoughts and memories that she just... drifted off into Tessly Land. "Hi Tess" she said and borught Tessly back from her daydream. “How long were you here? Did you...” she paused, swalling the words down. “hear me?” she finished. No, Tessly haddn't heard what she said. She had only seen the girl's lips moving. She haddn't ever been good at reading lips, and she didn't plan on starting. People needed their privacy and whispering to God was one of the little things that a person had left that should only be heard by them. Tessly shook her head. "No, I didn't" she said in a loud whisper. "Did you.... um... hear me?" she spoke her small terror aloud.
